Devon Youth Theatre information for teachers and parents

The introductory workshops for the  2011-2012 Devon Youth Theatre season are now complete and this year's company has been formed.

The company will be performing Dialogues at the Exeter Northcott Theatre at 7.30 on Saturday 14 April 2012 together with the Devon Youth Dance Company. Tickets will be available from the Exeter Northcott shortly.

DYT is funded by Devon County Council and aims to give young people in Devon age 13-19 the opportunity to work in an innovative, high quality company with other like-minded students and professionals to learn more about the art form and discipline of theatre.

Annually the programme includes taster workshops in schools and at weekends around the county, followed by auditions for the Company's intensive Easter or Summer School. DYT works collaboratively with a number of theatre practitioners, including acting, movement, scriptwriting and backstage professionals. Young people and their teachers or group leaders can get involved in DYT in the following ways:

  • Taking part in a taster workshop or requesting a workshop or INSET at your school or setting
  • Promoting DYT to your young people and encouraging them to participate in a taster workshop or audition for the Company
  • Joining the audience for a DYT performance
