Science met art at the Daisi stand at the Big Bang South West Science Fair at Exeter University on 28 June 2012.
More than 150 secondary school science students from across the South West dropped in to the Daisi stand at the Big Bang South West science fair to work with Daisi artist Ruth Oakley to explore the artistic and scientific properties of colour and create a frieze representing the colour spectrum. The students took part for as short or as long a period as they liked, and incorporated hidden messages, 3d images and even paper engineering into the artwork. They also explored the interference patterns created by multiple light sources passing through a range of different materials.
If you are a teacher in any subject area and would like to work with Daisi to help you build bridges across the curriculum, we can work with you to design projects that allow your students to explore science through the arts and see the world around them with fresh eyes.
