3D A Chance to Dance - information for teachers & parents

3D A Chance to Dance is a Devon County Council funded organisation that aims to promote high quality dance and provide performance opportunities for school children and young people in Devon.

3D’s objectives are:

  • To offer participation in dance at 3 different levels, giving young people the opportunity to develop their own dance ability and experience
  • To raise the profile of dance and the standard of dance performance and choreography in the county by enabling children and young people, teachers and dance tutors to view each other’s work
  • To offer professional development opportunities for teachers and tutors within the framework of 3D
  • To enable young people to participate in live performance

31st January 2010 - Landmark Theatre (Ilfracombe)

3.00pm Performance

 

28th February 2010 - Ariel Centre (Totnes)

1.00pm and 6.30pm Performances

 

7th March 2010 -  Manor Pavilion Theatre (Sidmouth)

3.00pm Performance

 

14th March 2010 - Barnfield Theatre (Exeter)

1.00pm and 6.30pm Performances

 

Young people can participate through:

Devon Youth Dance Company (DYDC)

DYDC is an auditioned Company (male and female) age 14-18 who work with their own Artistic Director and visiting professional dance artists and choreographers. They perform across the county and by invitation at other regional and national events. More about Devon Youth Dance Company (DYDC)

Your Chance to Dance Groups

Up to 10 un-auditioned primary and secondary age groups across the county, where each group is led by a specialist dance teacher or dance artist and makes work to perform alongside DYDC and school groups at one or more of the 3D performance days. More about Your Chance to Dance groups

Dance contributions from local schools

All schools are invited to bring their own dance piece to one of the 3D performance days. Annually, about 42 schools take up this opportunity to experience performing to a large audience in a professional venue, and to share their work with their peers from across the county. An excellent opportunity for friends and siblings to come and see what dance can be, and perhaps the first step to joining a group next year…
