| Daisi Artists lead 'The Big Draw' |
|
Daisi worked with Exeter City Council to place 3 visual artists in unexpected locations across the city for the Campaign for Drawing’s annual flagship event, the Big Draw on 31st October, each encouraging innocent passers by to help create murals, collages and cartoons inspired by people and place. Scott Walker created a large black and white cartoon graphic in the Transit Shed on the Quayside, made up of fantastic creatures and encouraged all those taking in the river side to add their own creatures, creations and colours.
Ruth Oakley ran pavement art in Northernhay Gardens with paper and chalks, creating exotic plant life and animals matching and contrasting with those already growing in the gardens. Sara Downham Lotto took over the Central Library foyer creating a huge vibrant abstract collage, representing and interweaving the histories of all those who took part.
Daisi is very pleased to be a part of this year’s Big Draw activity with Exeter City Council. The event, which nationwide involved over 1000 venues, from village halls and nursery schools to national museums and castles, aims to connect generations and communities and show that drawing can be an enjoyable public activity as well as a private passion!
