Artist Application Process

Daisi requires artists to:

  • Be a professional artist who is actively practising and developing your art form
  • Have experience of working in your art form in schools or other education settings
  • Apply for a certificate of enhanced disclosure from the Criminal Records Bureau through Daisi
  • Carry your own Public Liability Insurance
  • Have two references based on work you have done in schools or education settings within the last 6 months (Please make sure the contact information for your reference is current and that they have been informed that you are using them as a reference)
  • Sign up to Daisi's child protection policy and all other Daisi quality assurance procedures

If you would like to apply to become a Daisi Artist, you will need to call Daisi at 01392 385214 to request an Artist Application Pack. We can then further discuss with you what you can expect from working with Daisi.

New artist application forms are considered every 3 months, immediately following the following submission deadlines:

31 January
30 April
31 July
31 October

There is a £40 fee required to process your application to be a Daisi artist (only payable if your application is successful). Please submit a cheque for this amount, made out to 'Daisi' or 'Devon Arts in Schools Initiative' with your completed application. If you are not successful with your application, the cheque will be return to you. This covers the administrative costs of managing a database of more than 100 Daisi artists. In addition to the application fee, there is also a £10 fee every year to remain on the database.

Following these deadlines, we will contact you to let you know if we will feel that Daisi will be able to offer you any bookings as a freelance artist. This is not necessarily an indicator of the quality of your work, but may reflect the demand from schools or the number of Daisi artists already working in your art forms.

Please note: Being a Daisi artist does not guarantee that we will be able to provide work in schools for you. It is the responsibility of the artist to work with Daisi to continually develop and market their own work.
